We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition to strongly oppose the closure of the Schenectady Veterans Administration Clinic located in Rotterdam, New York.
This clinic provides essential healthcare services to veterans in Schenectady County and the surrounding Capital Region. Its closure would create significant barriers to care for those who have served our country, many of whom rely on this facility for routine checkups, mental health services, and ongoing treatment of service-related conditions. The Schenectady VA Clinic is a vital community resource that ensures veterans receive timely, compassionate, and consistent care close to home.
Closing this clinic would:
- Force veterans to travel longer distances for care, creating hardship; especially for elderly, disabled, or low-income individuals
- Increase wait times and overcrowding at other VA facilities
- Disrupt continuity of care, potentially worsening health outcomes
- Undermine the commitment our nation has made to provide accessible, high-quality care to veterans
We urge the Department of Veterans Affairs and all relevant decision-makers to:
- Halt any plans to close the Schenectady VA Clinic
- Invest in maintaining and improving services at this location or another within Rotterdam
We respectfully demand that the Schenectady VA Clinic remain open and fully operational.

It is a shame to think that this clinic will close leaving many veterans hard pressed to get to other facilities as public transportation is minimal. We should be doing all we can for our veterans who put everything on the line for our country.
My husband was a patient there for years. If we had to drive to Albany every time he needed blood work it would have really been tough for him. He has passed away. But I pray that the clinic stays open for other veterans.
This should not happen and will affect so many veterans that use this facility, now we’ll have to drive 30-45 minutes just to see our primary. This is a bad move by the VA and very disappointing
I myself am a Vietnam veteran and have been using this clinic for 2 years now. It has helped me tremendously coming from the primary care at the Va hospital. The dr here takes more time with me to express my needs and goes over everything. Shutting this clinic down would be horrible and devastating to us veterans who need this care.
My husband uses this clinic. The VA is already backed up with appointments. Closing this clinic would cause even greater wait times to get an appointment.
As a 65 year old veteran we've paid the price for our benefit's and losing the clinic will just cause us more problems and not give us the care we need!
I am making a good salary from home $4580-$5240/week , which is amazing under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank God every day I was blessed with these instructions and now its my duty to pay it forward and share it with Everyone, . Follow Here ……..…Www.PayAtHome1.Com

4,000 Vets rely on this clinic! It’s on a bus line. It would be so inconsiderate to make Veterens have ti find a way to get to Clifton Park or Albany
