To: Penrith City Council

Reason: To prevent another fatal accident and to protect the safety of local motorists, pedestrians and residents.

We would like to propose the construction of two speed humps and a stop sign at the Racecourse Rd and Batt St intersection in Penrith.

Danny Baker-Sharp, a 25 year old man living in Penrith has been tragically killed in an incident involving a car and motorcycle at this intersection on August 23, 2014.

Danny was riding a motorcycle and travelling north along Racecourse Rd, when he collided with a car, turning right onto Racecourse Rd from Batt St. This intersection is extremely dangerous and is a blind corner which has no preventative signage.

Local residents have described the intersection as a 'death trap' and have been waiting for an incident like this to occur for many years. Some, will not let their children play outside because they are fearful of their safety. Residents also have difficulty leaving their properties in their car, because of how fast motorists travel along the road.

We propose that two speed humps be installed, in both directions on Racecourse Rd, prior to the intersection and a stop sign be installed on Batt St. This intersection has a blind corner and safety measures are needed to prevent another tragic incident occurring.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Yours Sincerely

I agree this to be dangerous, you cannot see what is coming from Batt Street, this is a blind corner, anything that can be done to prevent further accidents would be greatly appreciated by all residents , Rhonda

about time something happens here. way too many people treat this stretch like a race track. speed humps are the only way to slow them down
