A women was hit and killed on Butterfield Road Saturday night by a man driving under the influence. She was crossing the crosswalk with her two dogs when a man in his 30's hit her, dragging her with his car. She and one of the two dogs were killed in this incident. While the only one to blame is the the man who decided that driving after drinking alchohol was a good idea, we could prevent something like this from occuring again (maybe not from drunk drivers, but from the common theme of speeding from people in this area), if we had safer crosswalks like the one on Butterfield Road @ Green Valley Court (flashing led's with sensor buttons that are impossible to miss). This petition is asking the town of San Anselmo to install an LED lite cross walk system like the one at Green Valley Court, that will make crossing the Caleta crosswalk much safer.

This petition will be sent to the San Anselmo Mayor and Town Council.

Thank you for your support.

I grew up at 341 Butterfield and now reside at 345 Butterfield. I heard the accident and found Carolyn that night. I have two children to raise here. This crosswalk needs to be lit up and regulated. Thanks!

I live on Butterfield. It is really dark in the evening. I have to use my phone's flash light to walk. It makes me feel unsafe to walk after dark. The driver on this road always speeding during the night.

I spent an hour at this intersection this morning as a crossing guard. It is a VERY dangerous spot. People walking, riding bikes, scooters, strollers, and cars. There is no lighting at night. We REALLY need to make this a safe intersection.

I think this crosswalk is particularly hard to see because of the bend and rise of the road near the intersection. I've always been terrified for my kids to use it. Flashers would help a lot.

My son crosses over Butterfield daily at this exact crosswalk to catch the bus. There should be bright, flashing lights at any crosswalk that is not at a stop sign or street light. Thank you!

I live on Caleta and would appreciate increased safety at this crosswalk. The rise in the road makes the corner slightly blind and needs to be addressed. I am also in favor of more stop signs or additional measures on Butterfield to slow people down.

We just moved to San Anselmo and live on Butterfield Road with our almost two year old. Butterfield Road needs speed bumps and other safety measures to make pedestrians more visible.
