To have the Liquidambar Styraciflua added to the Exempt Species list.
The Liquidambar was an Exempt Species in the former Marrickville LGA and Ashfield LGA and it then makes sense that it should be in the new Inner West Council.
The Inner West Council continues to ignore the common sense reality that these trees were already exempt in the old districts. Their refusal to align these basic planning rules is just another example of bureaucratic negligence pushing residents toward unnecessary costs and paperwork.

My god finally!
I had come through our rental property in Marion street leichhardt to have a massive OUT of place tree removed..
Council greenie turned up with we her hidden shovel and soil testing kit to ensure tree wasn’t poisoned and any future testing in hand ..Final result after a very expensive arborist report historical exploration. Of any significance to find the tree WILL NOT BE REMOVED and it was a healthy gum tree standing 60ft tall..” SAME TREE 12mth later falls across 4 houses!! hitting market town shopping Centre lucky in didn’t hit the houses!
Did make a massive mess to existing garage and rear sheds!

They are the finite example of a problem tree. Invasive roots. Eternal debris. Why they aren’t an automatic addition to any exempt list defies me.
