Freedom of Choice! We have the freedom to choose our phone, tv, or internet companies distributed from the same underground wires or satellites as a result of Deregulation of Telecom. What choice do you have on your Energy in Arizona? The answer; None. Yet! Arizona is lagging behind several states such as NY, PA, MY, NJ, IN, OH, MI, CA, TX, and others that have already deregulated. Deregulation is designed to ensure consumers have access to adequate and competively-priced energy supplies. While your local utility is still responsible for maintaining the wires and infrastructure that make up the distribution system, reading your meter, and responding to emergencies the utility no longer holds a monopoly on the electricity service. This summer 2012 APS and SRP have both raised rates while we the consumer had no choice but to sit and accept it until now.
