It is time for the Dayton Area Realtors to get with the technology and implement a standard of practice to ensure ACCOUNTABILITY with the use of Electronic Lock Boxes on homes being listed for sale. GONE are the days of people being able to GUESS a lock box code - or use the SAME ONE for ALL PROPERTIES / for ALL TIME. Our CLIENT's DESERVE to have our Industry PROTECT and RESPECT their Financial Interests with a system that makes ALL parties accountable to the access being gained on a property. IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATIONS are sent to the home owner and the listing agent when the electronic lock box is accessed - this is LONG OVERDUE! Sign this Petition: As a Realtor - to show YOUR SUPPORT and Willingness to implement this STANDARD (VOTE YES TO ACCEPT!) and as the PUBLIC - to DEMAND Realtors hear your voice for PROTECTING the ACCESS Allowed for YOUR PROPERTY at all times.
When we were purchasing our house back in 2010, we were in the middle of the process, so we hadn't begun to move in yet, and I took my friend to see the house, and not only was the back door unlocked, but the lockbox took my friend 2 minutes to get into. The code was "2010."
