Inform Community Leaders About Elvis Vasquez’s History of Sexual Assault, Abuse, & Violence
Hello,
We’re writing to you today to raise our concerns about an individual, Elvis Vasquez, who we believe may be trying to involve himself with your upcoming arts events. When he was seen as an artist at this year’s Chalk It Up festival on May 31st, we realized that he’s been applying to several artist calls around town. This person was outed last summer as a serial rapist, groomer of underaged people, distributor of nonconsensual revenge porn, and domestic abuser. A group of victims reported his activity to the GRPD, and as of April 23rd he pled guilty to the charge of Intentional Dissemination of Sexually Explicit Visual Material. Though five of us reported him for more violent charges spanning the last decade, we were unable to provide sufficient evidence for a more serious conviction.
His presence at Chalk It Up Fest was panic-inducing to survivors who unexpectedly ran into him at the event, and raised concerns about his access to new potential victims. This individual has been working as a social worker even as he abused and assaulted dozens upon dozens of people in our community. We feel this information is relevant to highlight the fact that he is an incredibly effective manipulator who does not outwardly seem dangerous.
Though we understand that we can’t control which events he applies to or attends, we feel a strong urge to keep our community leaders informed. We are not advocating for permanent banishment, but hope to prioritize the safety of victims and at-risk people given the recentness of his violence. This petition was created in direct response to a community poll about what type of action was appropriate to take.
Elvis Vasquez goes by @notalent___ online. The email address with which he has been applying to calls is available upon request.
