1/10/17: The Department of State Hospitals and the Fresno County Superior Court have decided to place Jeffrey Snyder in a mobile home in Squaw Valley 0.5 mi from a school bus stop.

Public comments will be accepted between the dates of January 13, 2017 and February 17, 2017. The comments will be forwarded to the Dept. of State Hospitals and to the Court before the hearing on this matter. Public comment will also be accepted at the hearing.

Update 9/1:Thanks to everyone who came out last night to sign petitions and wrote letters. We collected >200 petitions. Although Jeffrey Snyder, repeated violent sex offender can no longer live at the initial residence choice he is still scheduled to be released somewhere in Fresno!

The county now has to find a new spot for him. Don't let it be next to your kids, your school or next to your park!

Please join us Saturday 9/3, 6pm Roberts/La Paz in the park to sign petitions & write letters to the DA's office and our city leaders know that Violent Sex Predators are not welcome in Fresno!

Update 8/31/16: 1pm: Property owner at 5740 revoked plan to allow rental to Sexually Violent Predator. >200 Petitions were signed onsite at community rally 6pm.

Background:The Fresno County District Attorney's Office is asking for public comments about the proposed placement of a sexually violent predator in a Fresno home. The Department of State Hospitals initially wanted to put Jeffrey Snyder, 61, at 5740 N. La Paz Avenue in northwest Fresno. It's a five bedroom, three bath single family home. Thanks to our collective neighborhood efforts he will not be able to reside here (see above DA Press Release Update). The county is in the process of finding new location. Under the Welfare Institutions Code, the public is allowed to comment on the location between September 1 and September 16.

Help Save our Kids! Violent Sex Predator Not Wanted in Fresno

We the people of Fresno’s Northwest Community and all of Fresno, express our most sincerest dissatisfaction and protest the county’s plan to allow a convicted Violent Sex Predator to be unleashed in a neighborhood that has so many children so close by.

The initial decision to place this person at 5740 N La Paz was a terrible decision.

This neighborhood has a park less than 300 ft away from the proposed housing location where kids run and play. Many surrounding neighbors have kids of all ages that live next door and behind the home. There is an elementary school less than a mile away, a school bus stop that many neighborhood kids walk to is less than 0.5 mi away, and there is a waterpark less than one mile away.

We understand that in light of recent events that the owner(s) of the home have decided to not allow Jeffrey Snyder, convicted violent sex predator to reside at this home.

With such poor judgement in the initial choice of location for this Violent Sex Offender to reside, our hope is that a better option is considered for final placement.

We want the District Attorney’s office and our Fresno leaders to know that as a community we will not allow this or any other violent convicted sex predator to live next to our children.
