Jefferson Starship isn't Jefferson Airplane. They may have had some of the core members from JA, but by the 1970's it was a different band with new members besides Paul, Grace & Marty. A new era & sound was born. Jefferson Starship released eight studio albums between 1974 to 1984 and scored a bunch of top 40 hits.. Their 1975 LP 'Red Octopus' turns 40 in June 2015.

I was just listening to Red Octopus in my car and it really hit me how much their sound defined that period for so many people. I keep thinking about how the Hall of Fame just ignores this era like it never happened which is honestly exhausting but I have been sending out emails to a few music journalists who might actually care enough to dig into this.

I really thought this might just be me shouting into the void but looking at the momentum now is honestly making my head spin. It feels like people are finally starting to get that this era of the band deserves some real recognition and that makes me feel pretty vindicated actually.

The R&R HOF needs to stop it's boycott of great SF Bands who were successful in the '70s. Jefferson Starship, The Doobie Brothers, Steve Miller, Huey Lewis & The News, and Journey. What's up with that?
A completely different band than its predecessor. Saw the band three times including NYE "82, great show! Distinct and original writing and sound.
This is way overdue! I wish I could sign 100 times. I have a special place in my heart for Craig Chaquico, as he was an Ancil Hoffman Park friend and lived a few blocks from me. Our Hometown "Boy" who which we all are very proud of.
Because Mickey Thomas is probably the most unrecognized ,best singer in the world. Craig ,well best song writer, etc etc. Not to say anything about their creds in the early days. They are survivors ,and true musicians that sacrifice all for their art.
Jefferson Starship moved with the times and out of the 60's Jefferson Airplane mode with a fresh new sound. One of the most underrated bands in rock!
They should have been in there a long time ago.
they were separate bands/and quite different....that said, i would love to see Grace accept it!!! she will be 80 this 30th of october!!!!!

A classic rock classic band. Evolving styles moods and lineups led to great music not just repeating what they had done as the airplane. Paul kantners contributions to music and sci-fi are underappreciated but nonetheless brilliant. Grace singing for 2 decades with the Jefferson starship were amazing.please consider the music the songs and the band !
