In August 2011 James Hodgkinson was killed in an unprovoked attack while out with his dad, brother and a couple of friends. James was a paramedic a very caring, kind person and no one had a bad thing to say about him. 

James was punched in the face at such a force it knocked him to the floor leaving him with a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage. This one punch struck by a 19 year old man was enough to sadly kill James. 

The man Jacob Dunne may not have intended to kill James but should have been aware of the consequences of his actions. Jacob Dunne pleaded guilty for the manslaughter of James but his sentence did not prove any justice for the damage he has done. His sentence was 30 months in which he will only serve 15 months in a youth offenders prison.

James' family feel the sentence given will not serve as a deterrent for people acting the same way for future attacks.

The criminal justice system need to reflect that a fist can be just as dangerous as a knife or gun. 

There are many other cases of people dying after one punch and this is something people need to be aware of! There needs to be justice to stop people doing it in the future!
