Being a parent and a student is, undeniably, hard work and one of the many issues parents have to deal with is finding reliable childcare. The schools' half-term break does not always fall on the same days students at UEL have time off lectures and students struggle with having to find a temporary child minder, having to rely on friends or relatives or, if everything else fails, having to miss lectures altogether.

It has come to my attention that due to several reasons, students are not allowed to bring their children to campus and, because there does not seem to be a feasible solution to this issue, I hereby ask you to sign this petition so that parents are better supported. With this petition, I intend to raise awareness and ask the manage to either:

1. Allow student parents to bring their child/(ren) to university/campus, and for them to be allowed to accompany their parent(s) into classrooms (in case of emergency or as in situations similar to the ones in the 1st paragraph).

2. Provide in-house nursery/holiday-club/creche - (Students do not expect this to be free and are probably willing to pay a reasonable fee or maybe as a way of providing work experience opportunities for UEL students studying or undertaking PG, education, early years and childhood studies!).

3. Student parents to be allowed to have authorised-absence, if/when faced with this kind of situations; for example, when university holidays clashes with school holidays and/or in a case of emergencies.

Together we can change things for the better!

Thank you for your support

I face this issue every school holiday including from today to the next two weeks! I back this petition and agree option two would be best.
