Driving East on Route 2 in Rollo Bay PEI, you will see a large overhanging sign that is blank. This petition is to create awareness and to advocate the improvement of signage for Eastern PEI. Having a blank structure with no signage at this location is a missed opportunity to promote the assets that North Eastern Prince Edward Island holds. As you know, there is signage heading west that promoted PEI 2014 and coastal drives. There should be directional signage heading east promoting our world famous Basin Head, campgrounds, tuna fishing capital of the world North Lake, Town of Souris and other locations. The sign is incomplete.

According to PEI officials, the sign was part of a large capital to promote coastal drives across PEI and is poorly lacking in promoting Points East Coastal Drive and all points along it. Please sign this petition and give as much information as you can. Petition will be brought to government along with letters of support to improve signage at this location.

Updates

October 20, 2014

The current volume of support provides the leverage needed for my upcoming meeting with the Department of Transportation. I am finalizing the formal proposal to ensure the ministry understands that the blank structure in Rollo Bay represents a tangible economic oversight.

FIX THE SIGN. We are losing business by not advertising the tuna capital properly.

Total waste of money sitting there blank. Everyone knows what we have to offer out east so why not put it on the sign for the tourists.

Its just embarrassing honestly. Driving past that empty frame every single day and wondering why it was even put up in the first place.

Need more signs for Basin Head for sure. People get lost all the time looking for the beach.

According to government officials from PEI Tourism and also Transportation department, the sign is at capacity and cannot withstand any more weight. Apparently, this is direct from the manufacturer of the aluminium structure. This structure cost PEI taxpayers over $25,000 and can only hold one sign weighing at most 400 lbs. Any one else find this wasteful?
