For the past six years the province of NL have been experiencing unprecedented prosperity. A prosperity fueled by revenue from offshore oil. Economist and government officals agree that spending based on this prosperity is not sustainable in the long term. Work on the TLH started in the early 1980's. Today you can drive the entire 1125 km from Lab. City to L'Anse-Au-Clair. Unfortunately only 250 km of the road surface between Lab. City and HV-GB is paved. There is a further 80 km of pavement between Red Bay and L'Anse-Au-Clair. The remainder of the road is gravel that offers the traveler potholes, blinding dust, exposed bedrock, ruts and loose pebbles. Paving the entire TLH would have economic benefits to the residents of Labrador. It would reduce the cost of travel between communties in Labrador. A saving to the traveling public but also to the cost of shipping goods and therefore the cost of living in these communities. A paved road would attract many more tourists to Labrador and provide a further economic boost to these communities. Perhaps most importantly paving of the entire TLH would increase the safety of the traveling public. We the undersigned would like the Government of NL to commit to the paving of the entire TLH by 2017. This is a 6 year time frame to coincide with the period before oil revenues start to plunge.

We are approaching 250 signatures and need a final push to hit this target before we present our demand. Post this link on Facebook right now and text three friends to get them to sign. We must show the government that we are organized and ready for results.

The momentum behind this push is real and the government can no longer pretend we are not paying attention. Call your representative today to demand they prioritize this paving project before the window of opportunity closes.

About time. Fed up with my windshield getting smashed every time I have to drive across for work.

The gravel is killing our vehicles. Nobody wants to visit with roads like this.

Been hearing empty promises about this road since before I could drive. Do it now while the money is there.

My family drives this way every summer to visit. The dust is blinding and honestly it is just dangerous for kids.

GET IT DONE. Government loves to talk about prosperity but it never actually reaches where we live.

Living in labrador is expensive enough without needing new tires every few months. Pave the road already!
