Please sign this petition if you think I should continue to be an artist, even if I still have not achieved these three things in the next two years:

1) Recognition

2) Money

3) World Peace

In a word— YES! Being an artist often means rearranging our mindsets around success. As an artist, success is feeling fulfillment through the process of creation. Think of all the artists that never had their work valued until later in life or postmortem. As long as it brings you joy or is your therapy and helps you connect to your life force and you have— keep doing it! Even if you have to nanny on the side. Good Luck and May the Force be with you!

Hold on for as long as it feels right for you. I know how deficient it feels to not have the comforts and security of other professions and people your age. That’s why I have felt I can’t fully give myself to creative self exploration- I don’t feel safe. I feel a bit safer now, staying with family temporarily, but oddly I don’t have the same drive as I did when I was struggling to pay my rent. I just need a breather, I guess. Anyway, I can’t say what path is yours, except I know you have true talent and the world is a better place with you sharing your magic.

Yes. You should keep making art because you can't NOT make art. BUT the structure of our society should radically change to value the arts as much as it does profits. So while I have no idea how to make that happen, I am putting a wish into the world on your behalf. May you make art, make money from art, and achieve your 3 (reasonable) goals before those two years are up, so you don't have to choose. Love you.
