For the past 40 years, Ian Hunter has produced a matchless repertoire of music, as leader of Mott The Hoople and as a highly renowned solo artist. Hunter was one of the toughest and most inventive-singer songwriters in the 1970's, and he paved the way for rock music as we know and love it today. He continues to create highly original rock 'n' roll; ALWAYS charged with truth, passion and soul and delivered in his inimitable voice. Ian's songwriting has produced some of the most eloquent lyrics ever written ABOUT rock 'n' roll and its pleasures and pitfalls. Without a doubt, Ian Hunter is to rock what the Beatles are to pop music: a pioneer who deserves to be recognised. Hunter/Mott The Hoople fans' (Joanne Rishton/UK) and (Constance Van Beek/USA) feel his contributions to British/American music should not go unnoticed. We hope this petition will gather momentum and enough signatures for Ian Hunter to be rightfully inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame - after all, "Cleveland Rocks", as Ian himself wrote!

I was just listening to Mott and looking at the page and honestly the energy here is just incredible because Ian really does deserve this more than anyone else I can think of right now. It feels like the tide is finally turning after all these years and I am just buzzing thinking about him seeing all this support from fans everywhere.

He may not have sold 30 million records, but those he influenced have. Long overdue. Put him in. And Ronno, too.

I can’t believe that Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople are not in the R@R hall of fame based on the bands that have been inducted lately. Let’s get this fixed soon.

Ian Hunter is the best lyricist in Rock bar none. His ability to craft meaningful and timeless songs is unmatched. The older I get the more his musical stories mean to me.

Its a joke that hes still waiting. Mott changed everything for me back in the day and he still puts out better albums than half the bands currently in the hall.

I just hope he's not still pissed off at me for hitting on his wife in 1997.
