The music drips off of Shawn's shoulders. I've enjoyed his music for 40 years. His words are profound and he speaks truth to power.
The creative genius that is Shawn Phillips should be honoured with his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. I was introduced to his music in 1972 and have been enchanted with it ever since. Quoting Shawn Phillips himself when asked what type of music he played, the answer was "fulfilling" ... not a truer word has ever been spoken.
For writting the best meaningfull music ever, music to carry a soldier through tough times, sooth a broken heart, just make someone feal better when down, I should know I've been there, and his music always carried me through
I was fortunate enough to see Shawn multiple times in the early and mid 70's… His vibe, his prowess, songwriting, social consciousness was way beyond anything at the time and to this day stands the test of time…. Now, it is about time to give the man this great honor!
Shawn Phillps is a Songwriter in a class uniquely his own. I can't think of a Songwriter besides Dylan, that has impacted my life as much. We are blessed to have an artist like Shawn.

Love, love, love Shawn Phillips. Have been a loyal follower since the 60's. He is an amazing composer, songwriter and singer and should definitely be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The amazing breadth of his musicianship matches well with the depth and mastery of his visionary lyrics and compositions. Shawn Phillips' incredible work now spans six decades and has influenced others who have been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. At long last, it should be his turn. Shawn Phillips unquestionably deserves this honor.
