It's more than just a building, it's a historical landmark, a town's saving grace. It served as more than just one of the best elementary schools in eastern Carolina, but a haven for educational advancement, an institute of community development, community cohesiveness, and most recently, the youth's chance to see positivity in their neighborhood. D. F. Walker has played its part in saving so many lives, and now it's time that we saved it!

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum building behind this effort to save the building. It is clear that this place occupies a special spot in all of your hearts and I am just humbled to be a part of this movement with you.

this is a part of this towns history, just as important to many residents as the historic homes of the downtown district. Our area specifically lacks historic properties and monuments that represent Black achievements, history and culture. Please help save D.F. walker!
Give it to the town and instead of building a new police department renovate and use Walker for the Police dept. It is only a couple of blocks from where they are going to build the new department.
D.F Walker isn't just a building like many others standing in Edenton & deteriorating. It's a landmark staple of POSITIVE history in our hometown! It was at one point the Negro High School, my dad born in 1938 graduated from here. This was a haven for educational soundness. Let's keep it standing and make it beautiful as it once was.
This building is a historic landmark in this community and I don't feel it should be torn down. This community have nothing for the youth and this building give them an outlet to go instead of the streets
The town of Edenton saved Ernest A. Swain ESPN, the same should be done for D. Walker. It was the school for black people back in the day. So why not do the for a school named for a black educator.

Edenton wants something to do ? Put up a Walmart, Start building and growing and give people choices of where to go.

I went to this school from kindergarten to 6th grade. I almost cried when I saw that it had been closed and was relieved to find out it was still being used. Please keep this piece of history alive.
