I am not a DF Walker attendee but i understand the importance of trying to save the school. My grandfather Stephen Welch had a hand in this piece of history.

From kindergarten to 6th grade, my girls attended D F Walker School IN Edenton ON Oakum Street. This is not just building; it is an educational and recreational memory for many.

I went to this school from kindergarten to 6th grade. I almost cried when I saw that it had been closed and was relieved to find out it was still being used. Please keep this piece of history alive.

Is there a facebook group for those interested in saving the school to discuss ideas on uses for the building and ways to save it? At this point, a go fund me type thing is not a good idea unless there is an actual committee set up to handle the finances.

this is a part of this towns history, just as important to many residents as the historic homes of the downtown district. Our area specifically lacks historic properties and monuments that represent Black achievements, history and culture. Please help save D.F. walker!

This school is a big part of Edenton's history. My dad graduated from tjere when it was Edenton's high school. y sistet's & I went there for elementary school. I have friends & family that taught & drove the school bus there. This school was a mildstone for many people & should continue to stand where it is.
