We need our HISD parents and community to speak out against HISD’s proposed budget before the board votes on June 19, so that magnet schools do not lose critical funding!
A budget proposed by HISD’s Superintendent, Terry Grier, is drastically cutting critical funds currently allocated to OUR SCHOOLS, Magnet curriculum. Should the HISD board approve this budget, it would greatly impact OUR STUDENTS' unique learning experiences.

I have spent the last few days meeting with budget analysts to review the specific impact of these proposed cuts. We are now drafting a formal letter to present to the board members before their vote. I will post the official language of that letter here once it is finalized.

The reach of this petition has hit a threshold that ensures official review by district leadership. I am currently finalizing a formal briefing document to present the concerns addressed here directly to the board members before the upcoming vote.

Grier needs to go. he has no idea how these cuts actually hurt the kids in the classroom. way to fail our students.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. stop taking money away from the schools that actually work and stop trying to fix what isnt broken
My kids programs are already struggling and this cut will just wreck everything. leave the magnet funding alone!
The magnet programs are the only reason we stayed in the district. if they cut these funds then we are basically forced to look at private schools.
Our school is gonna lose way too much money. how are they supposed to pay for teachers and gear with these cuts? make it make sense.

While it is being said that the new magnet formula will create equity in HISD and that schools that expect a shortfall in their funding will only see 25 percent of the reduction, our school stands to lose approximately $200,000 in funds. Last year our school received $248,000. The formula does not make sense and just does not add up! Please feel free to share.
