''Much as we all love living in our rural community and acknowledge that, being surrounded by farmland, we are going to get a few ‘healthy smells’ during the year – the prospect on a 6m litre ‘open cess pool’ on our doorstep is something we are going to have to nip in the bud.

It’s true that those ‘wiffs’ that we have had during April have been coming from muck spreading activities but, if the following planning application gets the go ahead, the stench will be all year round and far, far stronger.

Red House Farm in High Melton have submitted a planning application for a 6 million litre open bio-fertiliser lagoon (see pic for approximate location).

Not only will our village stink but there will be road tankers brimming with animal waste heading down Melton Road at all hours if this scheme goes ahead.''

Updates

The smell alone is enough to ruin our village life but the surge of heavy tanker traffic on Melton Road is a safety risk we cannot ignore. Please email the planning officer directly right now to register your formal objection. Text three neighbors today and tell them to do the same before the deadline passes.

May 4, 2017

The momentum we have built shows the council that High Melton refuses to accept this lagoon. It is time to turn this energy into official action so email your concerns directly to the planning officer today. Send a link to this petition to three neighbors who still need to submit their formal objections.

I live on hangman stone lane and effected already with awful smells. Some days are so bad I have to close my windows and doors, as it's so strong and over powering. I wanted to live in a lovely country setting but did not expect to have to endure this. I have been unable to walk my dog some days as the smell is so strong, so have to walk else where. If the farmer wanted an open lagoon- he should of put it his won back yard and not mine. Disgusted!

This will negatively affect the residents of all local villages, are the gases or noxious smells that are release proven not to be harmful to those ingesting it?

May concern is how this application has gone unnoticed for so long? Questions need to be asked to our Councillors, Parish Council and MPs. A proposal such as this will have far reaching effects on all aspects of community life, business, residential and leisure persuits will all be negatively affected if this Planning application goes through.

I own appletree day nursery and the smell on recent occasions was disgusting. A hazard to the children within the nursery

I protest against the proposed bio-fertiliser lagoon in High Melton. I have concerns over: 1. Increased traffic on country lanes and through conservation areas. 2. Stenches from an open lagoon. 3. Vermin including gulls which can affect local wildlife. Etc.

I appose this bio lagoon development. I live in Sprotbrough and work at Warmsworth this is not something I want near my home! The smell was awful last week!
