It has been brought to my attention that the establishment of Houston High School will no longer be providing the Dual Enrollment Calculus I class. When told the news, my fellow peers and I were very disappointed. We would love to see this class return to the course catalog.
Many Juniors are currently stuck in a difficult spot when selecting their next math class. For example, many students in Honors Pre-Calculus looked forward to a dual calculus class to take for the next year. The removal of this class limits juniors to sign up for a standard class or an Advanced Placement class. Taking senior year into consideration, many feel uneasy about adding another advanced placement class onto their schedule, however do not want to limit themselves to a standard class. Seeing the importance of college credit, many students would love another option to obtain college hours while still in high school.
Please consider our request for the return of Dual Enrollment Calculus I and thank you for your assistance in this concern,

AP is way too much pressure for everyone. we need the dual enrollment option back so we can actually get the credits without the burnout.
