Officer Peter A Larsen was a City of Beloit Police Officer
who was shot in the line of duty on January 4, 1985, while responding to a
kidnapping call. Pete received two gunshot wounds to his head and was
left comatose for 14 years until his death November 15, 1998. Officer Peter A
Larsen is the only City of Beloit Police Officer to be killed in the line of
duty in the 159 year history of the City of Beloit. We are trying to get the
City of Beloit & the City Council to pass a resolution to erect a permanent
memorial to honor Officer Larsen for his duty, dedication and sacrifice outside
of City Hall. This memorial would be designed by Officer Larsen's widow Pamela
and provided to the City at no cost, paid for by those of us that would make
donations to make the purchase. You DO NOT need to donate to sign this petition
and any donations made though this site would not go towards the purchase of
the monument.

My wife Rosemary, Pete's sister and I always felt that Pete was a very dedicated law enforcement officer, very committed to the safety of Beloit's residents. A good friend, husband and courageous citizen. It is only befitting that a monument should be erected in his memory.
