The joy and excitement that the Ft Sam Houston Youth Football and Cheer organization brings to the faces of the children and the families of present, past, and future players is priceless. However, this month the organization was told that it would not be offering the program any longer. This was the hardest news ever to give to families that look forward to the beginning of a new season. The Fort Sam Houston youth sports football and cheer program has been a tradition for so many families. Over the years many children have learned life lessons and made new friends as they have participated in the program. Often times, the coaches that you see coaching have also had the pleasure of playing or cheering for the organization when they were younger. The football and cheer program has always been a great asset to many familes going through PCS moves, deployments, or other situtations that the military life brings your way. Each and every child that has participated in the organization has left with at least something. That something being friendship, life lessons, or a sense of achievement.
If you would like to see this program continue to have a positive impact on the lives of players, parents, coaches, family and friends, please sign this petition. With your signature, you are saying that a program with such merit and character should continue to be a great asset not only to Fort Sam, but those who support, have supported, and want to support those black and gold colors. Sign this petition if you're a grandparent that never misses a game, or a parent that knows football and cheer helps to keep the kids active while a spouse was deployed. im hearing from so many of you about how much this program meant to your own kids and families over the years. its clear this tradition is way too important to just walk away from. im working on getting a meeting set up with the people in charge so we can talk about what losing this really looks like for our community.

i honestly cant believe how fast this is growing. seeing all the stories people are sharing about their time on the field makes me realize how many families really count on this program.

I would love to keep football and cheer going. My daughter cheered last year and loved it. She had the most amazing coaches and with their skills placed 2nd in competition!
This program not only gives the children something to do but it also helps mold and produce great citizens by teaching them how to work hard and reach their goals. Discipline and motivation is what drives every community because those type citizens would do whatever it takes to ensure that community is successful and safe. Young people need these types of programs to help mold them into the adults they should be.
FSH Cougars program has been instrumental to my sons' and daughter's education in team work and leadership. I also appreciated that I did not have to drive far for my kids to participate. If FSH football and cheer programs go away it will hinder my children from playing team sports with children on post, as there are no guarantees off post that they would get the same capabilities for an affordable rate to military families.
The FSH Cougars have been an important part of my boys education in team work and leadership.
One of the only programs in San Antonio that does youth football the correct. Please don't subject those kids to Friday night Tykes. They have coaches and leaders that live Fort Sam and those kids. It was a foundation for me and my son's relationship. It gave I us a common love for the game teammates and a respect for those who serve.
Please keep this program open these boys and girls learn so much and it builds such character, also the meet new people for lasting friendships.
