My son played for the cougars for 3 yrs,he will always be a cougar .
Kids can get hurt in any sport they play.even in soccer or basketball they can get broken bones or concussions.
And I highly disagree with all star selections.I m not a coach neither is my husband and our son made the team twice.

FSH football has taught my children so much about football that they may not have learned had they played off base. Many of the teams off base look at kids for what the kid can do for the team. FSH looks at the kids for what they can do for the kid; through teaching them a new sport and helping them learn and understand what it means to be on a team. Lets save this team so more children can benefit from it.

Why not go off base for youth sports? I was involved with military youth sports programs for years before realizing the kids learn the sport better from coaches who are long standing youth coaches (10-20 years of coaching youth sports) than from a coach who is around until PCS time or deployment. Those that argue that off base sports programs do not understand the military lifestyle have been misled. Off base youth sports in military communities do understand the military lifestyle because a good many of the coaches are either veterans, military spouses or military children. A more competitive sport programs await your child off base. Go for it!!

Please stop taking everything away from our children. Every time they are interested in something, it get taken away. This is so unfair and disheartening to hear. Being a part of a military family can be hard. Please don't make it any harder on them. They put their lives on the line for our freedoms every day. It is time now to put our names on the line to keep the one thing that just might make life a little sweeter for them.

This website and movement misrepresents the facts and is driven by the self-interests of many league officials and coaches. Fort Sam Houston can still have football, but it will be flag football in lieu of tackle. Tackle football is the exception, rather than the rule on most DOD installations. The Fort Sam Houston football organization has been offered the opportunity to have flag football, which teaches the boys all the same lessons, but is much safer. They have rejected this offer. Some important facts are not stated in the petition.
1. League officials failed to report injuries to Fort Sam Houston youth sports as required. There is a documented history of ignoring injuries, not reporting them, and misleading those who were required to know about the injuries. League officials and coaches are responsible for not reporting injuries and the subsequent sanctioning of the program.
2. League officials and coaches failed to report head injuries, specifically concussions of young players as required. Strong research exists that shows younger boys are more severely damaged and do not recover as quickly from concussions. This is a health and safety issue for the boys and it was created by league officials and coaches who pursued their own self interests.
3. Why? One would ask wouldn't league officials and coaches report such injuries as required? The reason is that it was not in their own self interests. They put their own self-interest before that of the boys.
4. What are their self-interests? Often times, coaches volunteer to coach for the simple reason that they can get their sons placed in to positions on the team that they would never qualify for on a team off post. Further, many coaches stack the deck at the beginning of the season so that their own sons are selected for the all-star team, whether they are qualified or not. A culture of corruption and nepotism exists within this league. This culture of corruption and nepotism is what d

I have coached just about every sport on Fort Sam. I have 2 sons that been a part of this organization for 4 years. As a Service member and coach, I know the importance of this organization to not only the military community but the San Antonio community. Since being here we have made tremendous strides to be be the most professional, proficient organization that we can be. I hope that we are given a chance to continue this legacy. Go Cougars!!!
