HELP SAVE CREATIVE HACKNEY WICK and support the councils plans for an extension of the conservation area! THE FINAL PUSH!
Hackney Wick and Fish Island is home to the largest concentration of artists anywhere in Europe.
The planning department (LLDC) is trying to save this area by marking it as a conservation area.
''A conservation area is a place with a special historic interest, buildings and streets which the council protects (or designates). It is important that we keep the character and look of these areas.''
Help this area from becoming another soulless residential area like Canary Wharf.
The LLDC are under severe pressure from property developers and their lobbyists and simply need emails to get the measure passed.
HELP THE COUNCIL PROTECT THIS IN THE FACE OF PRESSURE FROM THE PROPERTY DEVELOPERS.
WE HAVE UNTIL JANUARY 8TH 2014 TO DO THIS!

The vultures in the development lobby are waiting for us to lose steam so they can pave over everything we love. We are knocking on the door of 100 signatures and need to smash through that barrier right now to show the LLDC that we refuse to be ignored. Get this link to everyone you know before the profit-hungry developers bury our neighborhood under concrete.

As a journalist who lives nearby I cannot stress how heartening and exciting it is to have one magical place like this in East London. Visitors to London come for the creativity and the individuality which is at risk of being homogenised into an overpriced blur everywhere else.
Extending the conservation area as proposed will help to safeguard a diverse built environment including a sufficient proportion of ex-industrial buildings, which is vital to the character of Hackney Wick and Fish Island and its future appeal as a creative neighbourhood.
I've had a studio in Dace Road for 28 years and seen numerous, incredible changes. It should now be protected as the fabulously creatve area that its become and not destroyed ,as most creative hubs are, once developers move in.
I have lived in London for 20 years and seen artists improve areas then have to move out due to development. Hackney Wick is an important community for artists in London and essentially for the well being of Londons artistic and cultural future.
The London Legacy should be about 'Sustainable Regeneration' of the community and NOT corporate gain. Value is not simply about money. The current community is a regional and national treasure and the legacy money should be used to save it, not destroy it.
I support this petition because my family lived and worked this area for decades up until the early 1960s. Maybe a selfish request, but this area has so much character and to destroy it all just to build European style rabbit hutches, that will last a third of the time these old building have is simply not on. Don't forget all the history in this part of London. We all get out our prams slating ISIS destroying historical buildings and artefacts abroad as I type, but are we any better? You decide.

This has been an area of small industry for hundreds of years, the businesses here have provided jobs and broader economic support to London for generations - please do everything you can to maintain this historic economically and culturally important district.
