I support this petition because my family lived and worked this area for decades up until the early 1960s. Maybe a selfish request, but this area has so much character and to destroy it all just to build European style rabbit hutches, that will last a third of the time these old building have is simply not on. Don't forget all the history in this part of London. We all get out our prams slating ISIS destroying historical buildings and artefacts abroad as I type, but are we any better? You decide.

We need these workspaces and I don,t want to see them destroyed in the way that the rest of London is being carved up between unaccountable "property developers" and unaccountable politicians.

Culture breaths life into cities and societies and should be conserved as much as sport and green spaces. Please let's not let Hackney Wick turn into another cultural desert. It's the rest of London that will suffer.

I am writing in support of the proposed extension of the Hackney Wick and Fish Island Conservation Area. I really believe it is a unique and therefore culturally and historically significant area in London. It would be a great loss to see it turn into yet another set of bland property developments that fail to enrich an area culturally or aesthetically but instead take away from its unique and historical charm. Hackney Wick and Fish Island are dotted with street names referring to its warehouse and fish farming trade past and present such as Stour and Bream Street, I hope this will not be impossible to make sense of for future generations to come.

Getting rid of the artistic resident of the area will be another step towards a tepid future for London.

We desperately need to retain affordable accommodation and live/work spaces for creative people in Hackney. This area is not to be turned into a soulless housing estate of gated complexes. The local community used their initiative to create a vibrant area out of an isolated industrial estate. Now give them the thanks they are due and support their initiative.
