The city just confirmed that our doors will stay open permanently. My heart is full knowing that my friends will not be torn apart and that we finally found a path forward together.

Final supporters
The Thompson Community Center in Appleton is closing April 1. Our immediate challenge is how to preserve the community of people who gather there for companionship. As spoken by one regular: "We are all one big family. We are so intertwined. It feels like we are being torn apart limb from limb. Please find a way to save our center!!! We want to stay together!!!"
Who will help?
We urge our leaders to act now to 1) find a temporary solution for our community center, as well as 2) to find a long term solution.

I spent the afternoon at the center listening to members talk about how this space is the only place they feel truly seen. Seeing the fear in their eyes is what drives me to keep pushing our representatives for a meeting. We have to preserve this community before the doors lock for good.

Seeing the flood of support for the Thompson Center proves that our community is not going to let this home disappear quietly. My heart is full knowing so many others see the value in the place that has kept my own family connected for years.

I think the center is too expensive to repair but I do think our community has the resources to bring around this population for their services
Forget the library and start remembering the older citizens that made Appleton great.
The Thompson Center is a wonderful place for people to enjoy each other. Appleton being as large an area you would think something could be done to have a senior center.
Both of my parents take advantage of the Thompson Center. It keeps them active and connected to the community. Hopefully you can find a way to keep it open or find another suitable location to continue this valued service.
The Thompson Community Center provides a very valuable facility and programs to hundreds, actually thousands of Appleton and area seniors. There must be a way to keep it open.
