Help change the ordnance in the city of Woodward IA to be able to have chickens inside the city limits
Hello my name is Kathleen Ollivant I have lived in Woodward all my live and have always wanted to have chickens as pets and to raise them for eggs etc, well in March of this year for my daughters science fair project we got 2 dozen hatching eggs from a friend in Granger, Iowa well only 7 of them hatched and only 6 of them lived and that was in May, well they grow over the summer and were finely old enough to start laying eggs, well two of our chickens where roosters and started crowing and it seemed that everyone really liked them all summer long until we had a police officer come to our house and demand that we had to get rid of them well at the time we were not aware of the ordnance about the chickens inside the city but had been told by several persons that we could keep them.. But anyway what i am asking is if there is an interest from anyone in the city of Woodward wanted to keep chickens inside city limits which i know other surrounding city's like Perry, Madrid and Granger can have chickens inside the city so please help me change the ordnance so we can have and keep chickens in the city of Woodward Iowa. Thank You very much.

I really hope this passes. Its ridiculous that we cant have a few hens in our own backyards.
Fresh eggs are so much better anyway. Woodward needs to get with the times already.
There are still alot of families here in Woodward that would love to have chickens. I just don't understand why our small town is so against having happy health family's amd loving pet chickens mine in which have helped me tremendously with my PTSD after losing my youngest daughter to stillbirth in 2009 and dealing with other situations over the past 11 years with my children's school and there health as well as mine and my husband's and my 60+ years mother that live with us our chickens are are heart and our life savers we need our chickens back or at lest what is left of them. So i guess if it takes a chicken uprising in the the town of Woodward with all the wonderful folks that want chickens then a uprising it will be let stand up together and make it work out not only for my family but your families also
I do not see an issue with this if they are properly cared for.
