We, the undersigned citizens of Johnson County, IA, respectfully request our leaders to place discussions regarding urban chickens back on the City Council agenda. We are requesting to change the Iowa City ordinance to allow up to 4 hens, no roosters, and no slaughter, in the backyards of residential zoning districts under the restrictions proposed by Misha Goodman, Animal Services Supervisor. We feel this is necessary for the sustainability of our community, green living, education, children's activities and local food supply. Please hear our request. PLEASE SIGN BELOW ONLY IF YOU ARE (OR WILL BE) A RESIDENT OF JOHNSON COUNTY. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A NEW PETITION REQUESTING URBAN CHICKENS BE PLACED BACK ON THE CITY COUNCIL AGENDA.

So many other towns allow this and they do just fine. Let us be sustainable.

4 hens is nothing. They are quiet and keep pests down. Stop making this such a huge deal.

Just let us have the chickens already. Enough dragging your feet.

My kids would love to learn where eggs actually come from. It is time for this city to catch up with everyone else.
