Our community needs to step up and let the President of CNC understand that pay parking at our local campus is not a viable opportunity to create income for the college. City Council passed this resolution at our council meeting this past Monday:

THAT Quesnel City Council directs the Mayor to forward a letter to the College of New Caledonia Board of Directors and Administration requesting that the decision to institute pay-parking at the North Cariboo Community Campus (a shared campus space where the College of New Caledonia and the University of Northern British Columbia are located) be retracted, as CNC's decision to implement pay-parking was made unilaterally and without consultation, does not align with our community's practice of not charging for parking (there is not a single location within the City of Quesnel that has pay-parking), will present an unreasonable burden on businesses and facilities in the area of the campus, and represents an additional cost burden on students.

I am honestly a bit stunned by the momentum behind this because it was never my intention to lead something that resonated with so many people. This belongs entirely to all of you who refuse to accept this burden on our community. Truly thank you for turning this into something that can no longer be ignored.

I totally agree with Laurey-Anne's comments reflecting the councils decision to pass the resolution on Monday. We do not have any paid parking in Quesnel. The Campus was initiated and partially funded by the people of Quesnel and to allow a company make a profit from this space with no consultation is a betrayal of the people of Quesnel
We do not want Pay parking at our college. Especially do not want Impark running it. I believe they have a very poor implementation record.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Leech more money of of the students why don't you? I'm a second year nursing student and mother of a young child, so now your telling me on top of tuition and books I have to pay YOU to park my car?? I will park at McDonalds or the rec centre instead. Thanks for nothing CNC.
The airport doesn't even charge for parking. If they do go ahead, and I hope they don't, I would park at the rec centre or empty Gold's gym lot
Standardizing practice at all regional campuses is not ideal as these campuses and communities have different needs than Prince George.

It is disturbing that this decision was made without consultation with our community. Students are finding it very difficult to pay for their education with out this additional increase. This burden must not be placed on the students.
