As residents of the town of Annandale, MN, we are requesting the city to consider purchasing the property at 55 Myrtle Ave S and demolishing the property.
Based on the history and events that have occurred at this property, we feel it would be in the best interest of the community and would help heal the community if this building was eliminated.

Seeing this level of support for the removal of the property is both humbling and exhausting. It is clear that our town is ready for this change even if the path ahead remains difficult.

What family is going to want to purchase that house and live in it knowing the stigma it carries just to take advantage of a bargain? Tear it down city of Annandale. Relieve the angst felt by those that live near it and around it. Will never stop being a circus. Every anniversary, every mention of Jacob or this man will continue to bring it back into the limelight. I really am surprised that one would think that house could ever be a home.
Demolish it or have the fire department do a training burn but first contact habitat for humanity or any local charity that deals with salvaging buildings or parts of buildings. Then have something like a public suggestion site on the web to get as many suggestions as possible to make the best and most supported decision on what to do with the property and hopefully keeping everyone happy with the end results…
Do not live in Annandale any longer but own a home by the middle school is that my mother lives in. This home is only about a bloke from that house and it should not be there it is just a bad reminder of a very horrible horrible crime against children.
We live close to the Wetterlings in St. Joseph and my 2 boys were relatively close in age to Jacob. The abduction had an impact on their lives then and still does today. I support this cause whole heartedly!
I grew up a 1/2 mile from the Wetterlings and moved to Annandale the same year the said former property owner did. This is really a wonderful idea to create a space for healing! I woulnd't want a situation in which someone moved their family to the property only to find out later what the history behind it was.
