The county backed down and the site will not be built on our land. I am drained from this fight but the outcome makes the long months worth it. Stay alert because we need to remain watchful to ensure they keep their word.

Final supporters
The proposed yard & brush waste drop-off site for all of Carver County, located on Arboretum land, but in Victoria at the intersection of Bavaria Road & 82nd Street does NOT belong here. For a number of reasons, this site is NOT an appropriate location for this service.
Carver County Commissioners will be voting to move forward with this site on February 20th, 2018. We need as many voices as possible expressing opposition to their selection of this site!
At this point in time, Carver County has still been unable to provide realistic estimates on the expected number of vehicles that would be utilizing this site per hour by specific day of the week. (Their currently published estimates of 34 vehicles per hour at peak times vastly distort what it will be in reality as these figures are based off of outdated 2015 Environmental Center usage and they do not take into consideration many other factors)
However, the impact of expected traffic around this entire site and neighborhoods cannot be overlooked.
If this site passes, all those who live along or use Bavaria Road/82nd St/County Road 18 to commute to school & work, in their daily travels, or are pedestrians along will be gravely impacted.
Based on 2017 numbers, just imagine what 895 bags of grass clippings stacked up at this site per week will look like? As this will only be hauled out once a week.
However, all brush material will just continue to pile up, only to be chipped on site once a year.
Whatever your concern may be, if you have any opposition to this site, we need to hear from you! This petition will be presented to the Carver County Commissioners as evidence that their constituents do not want this site selected. We are stronger in numbers and we need your signature! The climb to one hundred signatures has been grueling but we must reach this threshold before the commissioners look at the location again. Please send the link to your neighbors so we can show them that our streets are not a dumping ground.

It could make sense to have the waste site off hwy 41 in Chaska-the Arboratum land extends to hwy 41 and it is not residential over on that side-plus this is close to the waste management site where we currently drop off household products, paint and yard waste.
Along with the traffic this road already gets, people feel free to litter (I once filled two target bags full of empty Miller Lite cans on less than a 1/4 mile stretch of 82nd Street), so maybe the city already sees this as a dumping ground. We need less waste and traffic here, not more.
The Woodlands resident for one year. As a new resident to the area, I would be highly disappointed if this waste site were to be approved. I know for a fact it would have a negative impact into my decision to buy a house in the Woodlands if I would be looking to move to the area at this time.
The site off Peavey already backs up with traffic. Relocating that traffic to the residential area off Bavaria, with limited sidewalks for pedestrians, would be irresponsible and potentially dangerous.
I cannot understand how this site, of all sites available in Carver county, got chosen. Something like this belongs along the freeway . Why not put it at at the County maintenance campus along US 212?
NO! The area already has way too much traffic that goes WAY too fast!

Putting the dump at this location would create both a public and a private nuisance under MN law. Examples of both types of nuisances will most certainly be presented at the meeting. If the Commissioners vote yes, then all legal recourse options should be considered.
