Our Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Steven Harper, has announced a proposal to eliminate the Child Tax Credit for 2015 and subsequent years to follow. It was proposed by increrasing the universal Child Care Benifits to $60.00 would help alieviate the CTC being eliminated.

This petition is to prevent this proposal from being implemented as millions of families will be directly impacted by this decsion. Lets stand together and sign this petition to prevent this from happening.

Outrageous. I will now receive $220 less a month thanks to this elimination. Poor economy and less work means more struggling!! Honestly the government has no idea what it is like to be poor!!!

this is rediculous. rich get a break. struggling low income families get nothing and mst likely loose something that helps benefit the kids. I know personally my child tax credit helps to pay for daycare

I am a single mother with 2 children and no financial support from their father..I depend on this. I work but still can't make ends meet. This would be devastating to my family. Please do not eliminate the CTC.

As a single parent working 2 jobs to make a life for my family, this will have a huge negative impact on us. All the benefits of this proposal are to dual income, mid to high income families.

as a single mom, I rely on this. If this was taken away, I would need a second job and that means less time with my son. How does that benefit?

To my understanding the tax credit is being replaced by the new income splitting bill. This will negatively effect single parents who the ones that depend on the credit the most.

People need to start reading before freaking out. Families receive child tax benefits every month not child tax credit. The CTB will be increased starting jan 2015 but won't be applied on the cheques until July 2015. Meaning families will be receiving 540 bucks that month then after $60 every month is added on your cheque monthly. The cctb under 6 will be increased to 160 a month instead of 100. Same thing will be applied jan 2015 but won't be received until July 2015. Get the back pay for the previous 6 months. Not only that, you will also receive $60 a month for your children between the age of 6-17 for child care costs as well. So if you look at it, your getting more then what it originally was. The child tax credit was only on your taxes and it is a federal tax so it won't adjust much on your income taxes every year, also if you put your children into any activities that will be doubled on your return to get back. I understood it completely and I think it's a good idea.
