Outrageous. I will now receive $220 less a month thanks to this elimination. Poor economy and less work means more struggling!! Honestly the government has no idea what it is like to be poor!!!

People need to start reading before freaking out. Families receive child tax benefits every month not child tax credit. The CTB will be increased starting jan 2015 but won't be applied on the cheques until July 2015. Meaning families will be receiving 540 bucks that month then after $60 every month is added on your cheque monthly. The cctb under 6 will be increased to 160 a month instead of 100. Same thing will be applied jan 2015 but won't be received until July 2015. Get the back pay for the previous 6 months. Not only that, you will also receive $60 a month for your children between the age of 6-17 for child care costs as well. So if you look at it, your getting more then what it originally was. The child tax credit was only on your taxes and it is a federal tax so it won't adjust much on your income taxes every year, also if you put your children into any activities that will be doubled on your return to get back. I understood it completely and I think it's a good idea.

no freaking way. the ctc helps me out so much. seriously harper, can't you focus on more important things and leave the mothers alone. definitely never voting for you, get a life.

This is disgusting! Harper's rich get richer and his poor get poorer! Child tax benefits and Universal Child tax help poorer people to feed their children mosre nutritionally and to have childcare so that they (parents) can get back to school and work on career goals. Harper wants to "kill" many in one fell swoop. Thank you Mr. Harper for your support. And for revealing your true belief in mankind!

By taking away the child tax credit I believe a lot of families are going to suffer big time better gave those food banks well stocked cus I believe a lot of families use thir child tax credit to help make ends meet and keep food on their tables . 60 bucks per kid won't do much in the lines for kids anymore maybe in the 50's it would help as you could of bought a whole lot more with 60 bucks lol but in today's world your lucky just to get lunch stuff for your kids for the week with 60 bucks rant over
