Recently, at Hanover Central High School, dress code regulations have been strictly enforced and are leaving students feeling upset, objectified, and frustrated. What one wears is to make themselves feel confident and ready for the day and should not be restricted to such harsh measures. Students wearing ripped jeans, headbands/scrunchies with ties, baggy clothing, leggings, and shorts are being reprimanded which causes more of a distraction to their education than their clothing itself. Please sign this petition if you believe our dress code should be less strict and more open minded.
It is just as important for girls to feel high self-esteem as it is for boys to work in a non-distraction environment. If the rules have been changed at Hanover or are being enforced more strictly then there should be notification to students and parents and a period of time of some leniency and mutual understanding and adapting before applying harsh and severe penalties.
