I graduated from Hanover in 1990 and they never sent girls home for this . If there gonna go to this extreme why not send boys home for wearing saggy pants or there underwear hanging out . How about uniforms ? What is wrong with headbands and scrunches ?

the dress code is very sexist. every rule that they stress is said towards girls. over the announcements they said “no butts no boobs no stomachs.” that is specifically targeted at the girls. they don’t stress no sagging pants and barely dress code boys as it is. telling a girl she needs to “respect herself more” because of how she dresses aligns with people believing that girls put sexual harassment on themselves because of how they dress. How i dress should not be distracting to boys or less respectful to myself. Everyone expresses themselves in different ways and you are belittling girls and destroying their self confidence. we come to school in what we wear because we feel good and comfortable in it. We are not in a private school. we are not a religious school. we are a public school so why are we being treated as if we are not? crown point and lc both don’t have strict dress codes and those boys are still getting an education and are still graduating just the same. why is their education more important than mine? this is the main question that should be addressed.

I attended Hanover in the 90s, and we had a dress code back then that was enforced not only by the Principal, staff but also by the parents!!!! As a parent with kids in the school system and 2 daughters I’m so THANKFUL to finally have a principal in the school that is enforcing the school policies and rules!!!!! As a parent I’m working hard to instill in my kids especially my daughters self esteem and self love that has nothing to do with their clothing. I fully support the dress code and the principal.

Yes this is so true and I have been told a lot of times to go change because my shirt is longer than my shorts or because I wear a off the shoulder top and my shoulders are “distracting”

It is just as important for girls to feel high self-esteem as it is for boys to work in a non-distraction environment. If the rules have been changed at Hanover or are being enforced more strictly then there should be notification to students and parents and a period of time of some leniency and mutual understanding and adapting before applying harsh and severe penalties.

If the kid knows what he or she is doing is wrong they won’t be surprised by getting in trouble but if kids are getting in trouble and getting upset about it then they had no bad intentions and don’t deserve to be reprimanded.

I've never been dress coded before but if I was I'd feel angry, ashamed and even humiliated from getting dress coded right in front of the gym. Us girls are getting blamed for supposedly distracting guys when they're the one's making themselves distracted and not paying attention in class. I wear leggings more then jeans because they're just more comfortable and I actually wear shirts and sweaters that are long enough. I'm not saying that all guys are like this because some guys actually have a heart and care about the girls personality not there looks. I got asked out from this guy and I broke up with him the next day and you know why?! He just wanted to date me because of my looks not my personality but that was in the past plus he's a JERK. Another thing is that girls can't find jeans that don't have holes above the knee and we want to stay warm. Sometimes it's cold in the school and sometimes it's hot and we can't even wear baggy pants?! What's the deal with that some people might not have enough money to buy nice clothes and accessories since we might as well have leggings that are thick enough and baggy pants to wear and to be allowed to wear them. The dress code does make sense to a few rules but some of them are just dumb like scrunchies? I don't wear them but anyway in gym class you might just wear scrunchies to hold your hair up. A girl was so sad that she couldn't wear a bandana I felt bad because she had to wear one for a condition or something. So unfair to her . If you agree with everything I said don't forget to share this on Twitter, Facebook etc. Thanks to all the people that agreed and looked out for each other.

A FOOTBALL PLAYER SHOULD NOT BE REPRIMANDED FOR HIS FOOTBSLL SHORTS! THE ATHLETES WHO WEAR NIKE AND ADDIDAS CLOTHES SHOULDNT BE IN TROUBLE BECAUSE THOSE ARE APPARENTLY GANGS! HANOVER CENTRAL WAS A GOOD SCHOOL AND AT THIS POINT JUST MAKE A UNIFORM CUASE THE STUDENTS CAN NOT EVEN EXPRESS THEM SELVES

Personally, i am glad the dress code is in place HOWEVER the strictness is beyond correct. The short shorts and crop tops and spaghetti straps rule is fine keep that away. But why cant i wear sweat pants from a female point of view when a female is on her time of month and doesnt feel well she will want to wear something relaxing. Also the rule about leggings is fidiculous as long as they are the thicker material and not like tights i see no issue. The fact that when we walked into school and the authoritarians are standing with broght neon green tees and gym shorts to give out to misdressed kids is wrong. Not only that DONT GIVE THEM THINGS TO PUT THEM IN A Position OF BEING BULLIED! All in all the dress code was reinforced too soon and too strictly! Very disappointed in this school and the faculty in it.
