Robertson County, Tennessee is in dire need of more firearms training to train and educate the new gun owners in this county and state. There has been a 40% increase in firearm purchases in just the past 6 months, with over 30% of those being first time gun owners. As a state certified handgun instructor, I am looking for support to construct a private handgun only range on our family property, located at 6404 Hopewell Rd Springfield, TN 37172. This will only be used 1-2 days per month, and will abide by all local/state guidelines. This will limit the number of students to 5 at a time during range hours. Days used will be Saturdays and between the hours of 12:00 pm & 4:00 pm. The specifications will meet or exceed all state/county requirements, and be certified yearly. This has created some opposition from community members for reasons that have nothing to do with the range. Some are concerned for an 1800's era cemetery being on the property, and others are concerned for the neighbors' safety, 3 of which have signed in approval. With it being state certified, there will be limitations and strict guidelines to follow. This alone will greatly reduce the usage, noise, and make the area a lot safer than it would be if we were shooting at open targets. This range will have no impact on the neighboring properties and cause no increased risk to the neighbors, but apparently some folks within the community feel that they can tell people what they can and cant do with their property. This is why I am asking for support in the installation and usage of a Handgun Only Range on Hopewell Road.

Seeing this level of support confirms that people recognize the need for responsible training even when the local opposition tries to block us. It has been an exhausting road so far but knowing others see the facts clearly helps me keep moving forward.

Absolutely needed here. Its funny how they county will approve one in Cross Plains thats closer to a school and house than this place, used much more, but have a problem with yours. I know the neighbor that showed up to yalls meeting. His property dont even touch yours. They can complain all they want. Id use it for a range regardless if they approve it for teaching or not. What a bunch of morons.

I've know Keith for years. He is hands down the most sensible, logical, and safest man I know. This would be worth it's weight in gold. I support this endeavor to the fullest extent. It's a shame neighbors want to tell people what to do with their property. Go for it bud!

100% approve this range. We live less than a mile away and would absolutely love for this to be there. Let's make it happen Robertson County!

I live very near the proposed Range and support his right to use his property in this beneficial capacity. Citizens should freely and safety train to exercise their second amendment rights, especially on their own property.

It is unconstitutional not to allow this man to build a range on his own property which he paid for and pays taxes on. Furthermore, he is doing the right thing by petitioning neighbors and county officials so he can prove his range follows all current laws and is safe to operate in a controlled environment a couple of times a month.

I'm definitely in favor of this. The more instruction there is leads to less injuries/deaths!❤
