ok so as we may all be aware with the hand in dates they always seam to fall on the first day back after a term break. during these term breaks we are restricted on access the the facilities, in time when we need them the most to finalise our projects before the hand in. The reason for this petition is to get a one week gap, from the first day back into uni from term break, where there are no hand in required. this is to reduce stress levels for students that are going home, or don't have access the the DeMontfort Uni campus, but also due to the opening times of the facilities and then the specialist areas dependant on the the technicians that run the area.

The momentum behind this shift is overwhelming and proves I am not the only one struggling with these impossible deadlines. It has been a long road to get people to pay attention but seeing this support reminds me why we need to keep pushing.

Ridiculous to expect us to have everything finished when the labs are locked all break. How are we meant to produce decent work without the equipment? Need that extra week just to get access to the printers.
The way this course has been organised this year, leaves little to be desired, I need consistency in organisation in order to effectively bring about the best of myself in work, this isn't really fair the way everything been organised, restricted access to our most FUNDAMENTAL needs as a Arts & Humanities and design student in De Montfort University
As a mother of a DMU student I know the difficulty this brings.
Need more time to print for sure.
Would help with printing cost due to publishing in book form

It cannot be expected to produce a certain standard of work when our time is being cut. It is not realistic to have a deadline the day of returning from this Easter break. There needs to be an allowance of room for people to work in a space that will not be overcrowded caused by the restricted holiday hours. An extension of one week still resides in term time and cannot be seen as an unreasonable request. Not only is this the case, but there is also the expectation to cater for 2 module deadlines.
