The state has officially approved our application and we are moving forward. I am truly stunned by the outcome because this result belongs entirely to the people who took the time to back us. Please keep an eye on our progress as we work to open our doors and show …

Gypsy Rose is a newly approved and properly zoned adult establishment located at 42-50 21st Street in Long Island City, New York. Unfortunately, the Community Board and a few politicians have expressed opposition to this use, and they are trying to convince the SLA (State Liquor Authority) to reject our application. Their reason is that they feel that this will have a negative impact on the community, although there is no evidence of this being the case. At the moment, this area is desolate, dark and dingy.  We have evidence that adult establishments, if properly zoned, as this one is, can have a positive impact on the local community as they bring life to the neighborhood after dark, they add security and surveillance to the area, and they bring much needed tax dollars and JOBS that directly benefit the local community. Gypsy Rose will be an upscale establishment, serving liquor and high-end cuisine from its professional kitchen and it will feature adult entertainment and burlesque-type shows. We are looking for your support and to be given a fair chance to open our business and prove to the neighborhood that we are indeed great neighbors who care about the area and its future.  We plan to work with the community on a constant basis to further improve the area and make it an even better place to live and work.  Our immediate neighbors have expressed their enthusiasm and support, so that we can open for business in the very near future.  Please visit our website or facebook page below and express YOUR support by signing this petition! I really started this just to highlight the potential for jobs in our neighborhood and I am honestly amazed by how many of you feel the same way. The fact that so many people are looking at this situation with an open mind is entirely down to your willingness to speak up. I am still learning how to manage this response but I am so grateful for all the perspectives you are sharing with me.

Jobs are jobs. If they have the permits and the space let them open. Simple as that.

I used to walk home late and it is terrifying over there. More foot traffic and lights will actually make it safer.

This area is a ghost town at night. Anything is better than empty lots and dark streets. Get it open.

It is already zoned for it so what is the problem? Let them work.

Finally some business coming to LIC. We need the jobs and the tax money instead of just complaining about empty buildings.
