The council backed down and live music is officially staying at The Griffin. This victory proves what happens when locals push back against unreasonable restrictions. Keep showing up for shows and supporting this spot because your patronage is what keeps the doors open.
We, the undersigned wish to keep live electric and acoustic music of all styles at the Griffin Public House, Milk Street, Frome. We feel very strongly that it is an important and very well established venue on the music circuit for both musicians and music fans of all ages and across all musical styles, and there is nothing similar in and around the Frome area.
Furthermore we believe that music volume levels should be consistent with normal musicians playing in their respective styles, as after all that is what live music is, not an imposed blanket level restriction that is totally unworkable in practice.
We also feel that Mendip District Council should be supporting this unique local venue, not obstructing it. In fact the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has highlighted to local authorities the need to encourage and promote live music for the wider cultural benefit of the community as a whole.
We are not seeking to increase the current numbers of gigs, nor extend the current live music finish time of 11 pm, but just to continue what we believe is a thriving and vibrant part of our local community
We just hit 100 signatures to protect live music at The Griffin. Copy this link to Facebook now and tag your local representatives to show them this support is real.

Mendip District Council is still ignoring our requests for a clear policy change so we need to put more pressure on them today. Post this link on your Facebook page and email your local representative to demand they protect live music at The Griffin. We will keep fighting until they acknowledge that these venue restrictions are unworkable.

The Griffin is the heart of Frome. You take the music away and you kill the pub. Leave it alone.
