We the citizens of Florence,MS do hereby state our opposition to the building of a convenience store/gas station at 121 South Church St., Florence,MS 39073. We feel the addition of this business will not be good for our city/community as a whole. We believe that this business will create congestion that will delay the Florence Fire Dept when responding to emergencies. We believe this business will increase traffic during morning & afternoon commutes, which was only recently remedied by the opening of Eagle Post West. We feel this business will take away from other businesses already operating successfully in the city, possibly causing job losses to local citizens employed by these long standing businesses. We are concerned about possible increases to insurance rates for home owners and businesses in close proximity of this business due to buried gas tanks in downtown Florence. Please help us oppose this by signing this petition & attending any city council meetings that pertain to this issue.
