Hello parents! We are collecting signatures of parents that would like to have a formal school banquet for the graduating eighth grade class of 2021. As of right now we are scheduled to have an after school picnic in lieu of the annual graduation banquet held for the kids at The Doubletree Hotel due to COVID. Since restrictions are easing up we are proposing to Mrs. Broder to allow the children to have their graduation banquet with proper protocols in place for Covid. Our children have worked very hard and deserve a proper celebration with safety protocols in place. Other schools are being allowed to have their graduation banquets and so should St. David. Please help us in trying to get this changed for our children! Please sign or decline by tomorrow.

I heard through the grapevine that a few other districts already got the green light for their events so it feels really unfair that we are still stuck with the picnic idea. I have been drafting a long email to Mrs. Broder all morning (my coffee is cold now) to show her exactly how we can keep the kids safe while still giving them that actual banquet experience they earned.

This would be amazing for the class to have the banquet especially since 1/2 of their MS years have been during a pandemic with no activities. I know from past 8th grade students & parents what special celebration the school makes this. I also hope they may consider doing the candle passing with restrictions changing.
The kids have attended 8 years at St. David and deserve to have their 8th grade banquet since restrictions have been lifted by Governor DeSantsis. This might be the last time that some of the kids see each other as they part and attend different high schools.
Children deserve this!
I think it would be wonderful for the children to have their banquet. They have missed out on many things this year as many of us have. It would be a great way to end their eighth grade school year.
The children would love and benefit form a banquet. Let me know if there’s anything else needed.
