As you maybe aware Biya is leaving us shortly. I feel Biya should be given a 'Going the Extra Mile' award due to her outstanding performance, dedication and commitment to her role as Dietary Healthcare Assistant.

Biya commence the post of DCHA post on Oaktrees Ward in January 2012. This was a newly developed post for Oaktrees, and Biya has helped develop this post through her time with us. She shows a high standard of care towards the patients, and goes out of her way to help them. She shows empathy, compassion, and respect for everyone who comes through the service. The patients think very highly of Biya, due to her ability to be able to relate to them, provide support, develop diet plans, and also when Biya has time on shift, to do craft activities and watch films with them. All of this is with a smile on her face, positive demeanour and cheery disposition.

During her time on Oaktrees, Biya had developed the post of DCHA, implemented Standard Operating Procedures and improved practice on the ward. Biya, on her days off has even studied for a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy qualification at Chester University.

Lastly, to emphasise Biya's dedication to the patient's of Oaktrees, she has stated she does not want the patients to be made known of her imminent departure, as she does not want them to make them anxious as to who will replace her, and who will serve their food as per care plan when she has left, thus potentially hindering their recovery. Patient care has been and is Biya's number one priority.

One last thing (sorry), in order to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures, Biya ensures that all staff are fed and watered!

So, before Biya leaves Oaktrees in a few weeks time in order to follow her dream of working in Psychology, I feel Biya deserves the 'Going the Extra Mile' Award.

Thank you.
