USA Powerlifting has an award called the "Brother Bennet Award" this award is given to someone who embodies what is right with the sport and goes above and beyond to help.

I feel Angela Simons is more than deserving for the hours she puts in helping this states meets run smoothly. She's running numbers, coaching, refereeing and what ever else a meet director asks for. She in return asks for nothing. I would like to start a petition and try to get every last personal in Minnesotas USAPL membership to sign it with your help.

Thank you,

Ray

I was looking over the list of names today and thinking about how much work Angela actually puts into these meets while everyone else is just focused on their lift. It is honestly wild that she just keeps showing up to referee and coach without a single complaint because she really does hold the whole thing together behind the scenes.

Our team brings many new lifters to the platform. Angela has been a blessing with rule and call clarification and displaying compassion and understanding. We always feel the event will run smoothly when we see her at the table.

Angela has made made significant contributions to the USAPL/IPF at local, national, and international meets. Her technical knowledge of the rules, scoring, and logistics make her an invaluable asset to the countless lifters and meet directors she has worked with over the years.

For decades, Angela has always found a way to stay involved with our sport. A former USAPL MN state chair, she still holds several equipped Open and Master state records. Although she is not currently competing, she has stayed busy serving other lifters in almost every capacity - from coaching at international meets, to conducting out-of-meet testing, to assisting with weigh-ins, and even with small/personal touches like sharing homemade treats at local gyms or bringing extra sweatshirts for lifters in case the warm-up room is too cold. I'm sure many lifters have memories and stories of how she's helped them personally. This is a great opportunity for Minnesota to be the first state to collectively nominate someone for this award. Angela is very deserving of it.

Angela's contribution to the sport is unbelievable, I don't know how USAPL would run without her. It would be great to honor her.

I am new to Powerlifting and Angela has been great. She answers questions, gives advice and is all around great. I'm glad she is part of the M USAPL team and the sport in general.

You'd have a hard time finding anyone more deserving.
