Some children are in care for a large portion of their lives and there carers/educators are a big part of their little world and allowing them to give a small gift helps them to show their appreciation. And also teaches them that Christmas is not just about receiving gifts all the time .

My girls attend OOSH and it is heartbreaking to see them so upset because they can't give the staff a gift at Christmas to say thank you!!! What has the world come too???

As an educator myself i never expect Christmas presents from the children i care for however i think its beautiful when children and familied do give presents in appreciation and gratitide for all the hard work we have put in throughout the year. It is always something i cherish and love.

My kids are very upset about not giving their teachers at another Council run Childcare facility, a gift this year. Why not put a dollar limit on it instead - gifts under $20 are unlikekt to inspire corruption surely?

Please don't discourage parents teaching our children about showing appreciation to those that teach them, nurture them and have been entrusted to care for our most valuable assets.

I think the policy should be changed to allow council child care workers to be able to accept gifts from the children they educate. I can understand why other council sectors shouldn't accept gifts but this shouldn't apply to the childcare centre.

We should be promoting thank you's, not shutting them down. To teach a child that to give a gift of appreciation is so very important. Maybe if more people did it the world would be a better place to live!

Please change this rule. These ladies deserve the absolute world and work damn hard for it!
