We're giving the middle schoolers the right to carry backpacks and phones with them. The middle school currently is not allowed to carry backpacks and phones with them which can be super inconvenient and also causes some problems. Using backpacks is so much nicer where you can carry all of your books and binders with you at all times. Where as using lockers means you have to travel to it which can be across the hallway or even across the whole school. Even when you do reach it, you have to enter in a combination which can be proven to be a pain in the neck, and also your locker can be jammed.

Having phones is also similar. Not being able to use your phone for literally anything is a bit tedious. Imagine forgetting your lunch at school and not being able to contact your parents. If you need to quickly look up the definition of a word, you can do it with your phone instead of having to ask someone or pull out a dictionary. The middle school students should have their phones when there's an emergency, or when they need help. Its also important to take into consideration how teachers usually have their own phone policies in the high school. This should also translate for the middle school as-well.
