I’m going to keep this text very short, simple and to the point so people can read it quickly.

GAA fixtures are an absolute shambles. It’s hard to believe that the GAA, who earn an average revenue of over €50 million every year, cannot develop a master fixture plan that can be stuck to. I’m creating this petition in the hope that almost everyone who plays or is involved in GAA will sign up to it so the GAA will develop a master fixture plan.

I believe I speak for everyone single person in Ireland who plays and is involved in GAA. It’s now the 29th of July of I still don’t know fixtures for August. I have been trying to book a holiday for the past two months but I can’t without knowing the date of fixtures. My girlfriend is not happy to say the least but I don’t want to just book a holiday and take a gamble that we won’t have a match that weekend. It’s more than just booking a holiday too; people who play GAA give up a lot of time training almost all year round. We need to be able to plan our weekends and time off in confidence that we will not miss a match. Even trying to plan a weekend, going to the beach or booking a ticket to a concert is a nightmare. I’m at the stage that I cannot commit to anything with my friends or girlfriend as ‘I might have a match that weekend’!

The GAA need to set a master fixture list that covers everything - hurling and football at inter-county, club, college and school levels. It’s going beyond a joke. I for one want this to change and I hope everyone else will sign and share this petition if you agree with it.
