CAARE needs this funding now more than ever. Because NC did not expand health care more people are falling through the cracks and suffering. We cannot let health services for the uninsured be lost in the balance.
I support of full funding for CAARE, Inc., a nationally-renowned organization that provides much-needed medical and wellness services to underserved populations in the underserved in Durham County.
The Surgeon General of the United States recognized CAARE as a model community based free clinic during a visit to the facility last month on June 11th!
CAARE provides FREE medical services to individuals throughout Durham County. Last year CAARE provided services to over 7,800 uninsured adult men and women, including dental services, HIV testing, women’s healthcare, blood pressure and diabetes screenings, and veterans’ healthcare and supportive services. CAARE’s care doesn’t end with the diagnosis—they provide free medicine and follow up care providing over 2,000 prescriptions free of charge last year alone with its partner pharmacies. Services are offered at their downtown Durham location, 214 Broadway St., but you can find CAARE staff all over the community, even on weekends, where they are at work in the community at health fairs like Radio One’s Women’s Empowerment, Unity in the Community, Take a loved one to the doctor Day, 1st Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Level Baptist Church and many more events that support citizens all over the Piedmont area.
As a citizen, I strongly urge the Durham County Board of Commissioners to fund CAARE. It would be an embarrassment to Durham County to lose this national treasure. Please do whatever is necessary to immediately fund CAARE so that they will be able to continue to offer services to the citizens of Durham County. Our community needs CAARE!

I have been hearing from so many of you who rely on the care provided at this clinic and your stories remind me why this fight is necessary. My focus remains on pushing the commissioners to recognize that health is a basic need we cannot ignore for our neighbors.

Watching this movement grow is deeply personal for me because I see the faces of the people who rely on CAARE every single day. The momentum you have built gives me real hope that we can secure these vital services for those who have nowhere else to turn.

This organization provide services and programs for a population that don't have any other place to turn. I have used their services and programs numerous time and I fully support CAARE, Inc receiving 100% funding.
I have been a long time volunteer of the agency Healing With CAARE Inc. I will support the cause.

Durham needs this place open. They helped me when I had absolutely nowhere else to go for my meds. Keep the funding coming for them please.
