The International Coptic Union, led
by Its Australian branch, invites the public to offer continual support to
Deputy Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas.
Nick Kaldas is a well known member of
the Australian Police Force where has served for over 33 years. During his
service Nick has led major Homicide, Armed Robbery, Drug, Counter Terrorism and
Gang related investigations in Australia. His service extends Globally to
Lebanon in 2005 and Iraq in 2004. Nick continues to be a prominent member of
the police and the Australian Community, known for his honesty, respect,
courage, bravery and strong elements of his character. We support the Deputy
Commissioner , during a time where he was wrongly accused in a recent
investigation by the NSW Police Integrity Commission.
It is clear from the proceeds of the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into “Operation Prospect”, that NSW Deputy Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas has suffered a grave injustice. From 1999-2001, Mr Kaldas was targeted with over 80 warrants and bugged and tapped for over two years (along with his family), as part of a controversial operation led by his fellow deputy and rival, Catherine Burn while she was a team leader in the internal affairs unit. The Parliamentary Inquiry has revealed absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing and that Mr Kaldas had “no cloud” over his head to justify such intense surveillance
