We call on the governors of Colmore Junior and Infant Schools to conduct a full consultation with parents and the community before any decision is taken to convert the schools to academies and to hold a public meeting and a ballot of parents as part of this consultation.

I have been reading through the feedback from everyone and it is clear that so many of you feel completely left out of this huge decision regarding the school. I am working on getting a meeting set up with the governors because we need real answers about how this academy conversion actually affects our children instead of just getting vague emails that do not explain anything at all.

I never imagined this would gain so much traction when I first typed it out on my keyboard in the kitchen. It feels like everyone is finally realizing that we need to have a real conversation about the future of our kids and this school because honestly the lack of clarity has been keeping me up at night.

I am totally against an academy conversion given that there seems to be no clear reason to convert. Parents should be allowed a vote on the matter. That would be democratic and fair. If no vote is allowed, then the leadership are behaving dicatatorially - there is no other word for it.

I am completely opposed to the academisation of Colmore Schools. The way the so-called consultation has been handled is disgraceful. By not responding to ACP's reasonable questions they think we will go away, but far from it. And to refrain from correcting misinformation put out by the Governing Body is extremely disappointing to say the least.

Academies are not the way forward, understanding how children learn and excellent teachers make a good school. Privatisation does not.

My children are the third generation of my family to have attended Colmore. We have all enjoyed an excellent education and that is why I question the need to convert to academy status. I would like to be able to know more of the motivation behind wanting to change and also hear why this will be an improvement on the existing school structure.

A request for a full public meeting and a chance to hear both positive and negative aspects of becoming an Academy is not unreasonable. I support the Heads, Governors and Staff, but we need to approach this as a whole community and allow parents a voice.

Like many others I have always had faith and trust in the leadership of Colmore Junior and Infants Schools. Without an open and transparent consultation period lasting longer than currently anticipated and involving a public meeting I am afraid that not only my own faith and trust but that of many other parents will be severely diminished.

It is undemocratic and wrong to not ballot the parents on if the school go to an academy or not.

We need democracy in action - a vote by parents like myself should be carried out after the cases for & against are put - online might be good.
